One of the biggest events to have taken place in Livingstone was the United Nations World Tourism Organization Conference that took place in Livingstone, Zambia and Victoria Falls Town of Zimbabwe, from 24th to 29th August 2013.

The Livingstone Museum improved its image in preparation for this event by repainting the building, re-paving the car park and re-landscaping the museum grounds. In addition, the education hall was refurbished and the permanent exhibitions touched up. Up to 4000 extra tourists were expected in Livingstone during the month of August in connection with the event
